An update from the Q&P Founders

thequillandpint

For more than 11 years, the Quill & Pint has gathered in locations in and around Burbank, California (and points online) for many fun, adventure-filled sessions of creativity and inspiration. In that time, its members have written thousands of short stories with our prompts. Quill & Pint members have been published in more than a dozen anthologies, and several of us have gone on to publish a wide variety of books. Through this creative exploration together, we’ve become a strong community of writers supporting one another in our wordsmithing pursuits. This is The Quill & Pint’s greatest achievement!

This new year is ushering in a big change for The Quill & Pint: We will be taking a hiatus from hosting our regular meetings for the foreseeable future. As life and competing priorities have crept up on so many of our members, the same is true for our founders Marcy, Bryan and Erik. It’s been increasingly difficult to balance jobs, school, kids, and writing, on top of managing the successful work of The Quill & Pint. So we’re going to regroup, retool, and take some time off.

That said, this writing community has power in its own right. So many of us have forged strong creative connections with one another, and that doesn’t have to pause just because our meetings do. Reach out to one another, find writing buddies, check out local writing meetups and events (the L.A. Writers Coffeehouse is a great place to start for that!) and at your local library, too. And fear not: The Quill & Pint will continue hosting our Novel November write-ins through the Burbank Public Library!

In the meantime, we’ll continue updating the community on our Facebook page when there are cool writing opportunities to share, and our calendar page will have details on our library events. If you're looking for some writing inspiration, you can always peruse our blog to revisit writing prompts from past meetings.

Thank you for joining us in this epic writing adventure! We hope you have a prosperous new year … and happy writing!

Marcy, Bryan and Erik
